National Structure... Local Influence
The Board of Life Education comprises a balance of nationally nominated Trustees and those that have been elected by local groups. This ensures that local needs and experience are represented in everything we do.
As well as running his own company Dorset businessman Terry Earle has an important role as an active member of the national Life Education main board and still manages to maintain his links with the local Dorset Life Education Trust.
Terry has had a long-standing involvement with his local community working on committees and raising funds for several charities over many years. It was his commitment to Rotary that first led to him becoming interested in the work of Life Education. Along with other Rotarian colleagues he was involved in the formation of the Dorset Life Education Trust in 1997 and through their determined effort the charity now reaches 80 per cent of children in the county.
Terry said: "The main highlight for me over the past year has been the launch of our fourth mobile classroom in May. One of our long-term supporters, the Chief Constable of Dorset Jane Stitchbury, officially cut the red ribbon at a special launch ceremony involving over 120 other community leaders from across Dorset. This means we can now get our programmes out to more than 40,000 children in the local area. I’m also very excited about the work we’ve done in linking with other local voluntary organisations, in particular Streetwise. This organisation teaches children about good citizenship, crime prevention and disability awareness issues. I really think it’s important to work in partnership with agencies across the community and maximise the benefit we can bring to children’s lives"
